So i joined the Navy and im now a DEP recruit (delayed entry program) I ship out to boot Nov. 9th.

but is aviation electronics (avionics) a bad field? will i be able to do anything if i go back to civilian life? i know there's boeing but they are laying off...

im going to try to switch over to intelligence or military police if i can. thats the kinda stuff i really wanna do

It doesn't sound like a bad field to me. At least you won't have to worry about getting shot at. Finding a job after the military may not be so bad. My uncle was in a similar field in the air force and seems to be doing fine. I forget where he works though. Nothing near as big as working for boeing, that's for sure. Anyways, good luck Iceman and i hope everything works out well for you.

Avionics Has a wide range of careers, not just limited to large corporations making airplanes. There is a ton of work retrofitting older" airplanes and repairing the avionics in them. Often when an airplane is sold, it is required to update the equipment to meet current regs. I think it's a good choice.

lol they must have known better than to trust you with nukes. If it was me, though, I would have enlisted you in my nuclear program if I had one.

I would not suggests MP, unless you want to go into law enforcement. I know quite a few guys and when I was thinking about joining the military they said not to be and MP. For one they are not well like (authority issues) and two... you can get stuck on guard duty for 4 years.... picture sitting in a booth at the entrance to a base for 4 years lol

But if you want to do law enforcement later it would be good xp towards that.

I like computer specialties... The computer field is just going to keep growing and growing

yeah i hear what you mean greg, im looking into forensics when im outta the navy... mp would get me the xp needed... but id rather do intel

yeah intel would be sweet then you could get a job with the FBI or something!
